Hi , welcome to issue #24 of the Tasart newsletter. It's been awhile but that's not to say we haven't been working hard to bring you the best selection of art materials in New Zealand. At the end of the month, we mark our first anniversary in our new location; 124 Anzac Street, Takapuna. In addition to our in-store Atelier, where we have continued to hold our all prima and life drawing sessions, we have launched Auckland Art Gallery. We also have a few new faces in our space; Janie (gallery curator) and part time sales assistants, Toni and Emma.
We would like to thank you all for your continuous support and belief in our vision. We are happy to announce the first of many art material demos that will be held in our 'new' Atelier. We hope those living in Auckland can join us on the 23rd of June while we welcome Nelson Artist, Geoff Noble.
Thursday, the 23rd of June 2016 6-8pm

Liquitex offers the fine artist a professional grade, light fast, low odor, low dust acrylic spray paint which is fully intermixable with their entire range of paints, inks, markers and mediums. Nelson based artist Geoff Noble uses a combination of Liquitex Professional Acrylic Spray and Heavy Body Acrylic Paint on murals, canvas and board. Noble's work portrays a combination of realist images with a surreal slant, taking images out of context, juxtaposed over bold, rendered or patterned backgrounds. He draws inspiration from family, music, the environment, social commentary and modern urban culture.
Noble will share his artistic background, his inspiration, and making a living as an artist at this Liquitex Demo, on the 23rd of June at Takapuna Art Supplies. He will also discuss and demonstrate how he uses Liquitex products in his own practice.

Currently on show at the newly established Auckland Gallery, an extension of Takapuna Art supplies is a survey of Jim Auckland's work. Included in the show are works from his early student years, commercial illustrative work, and a range of life drawings and portraits for sale. Auckland has been an illustrator and fine artist since 1973 when he graduated from the prestigious Art Center College of Design. Jim has received extensive recognition for work he has created in the sports and entertainment fields. Clients in the entertainment industry include: Warner Brothers, Walt Disney Studios and Columbia Pictures.
In 1990 Jim was invited to join the illustration faculty at Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, California where he taught painting and illustration for seventeen years. In 2007, then a full-time faculty member and head of the Illustration Department, he retired and moved to New Zealand and is now painting and helping out young New Zealand artists.
Jim's work will be available for sale and or viewing until the end of June.
