Encaustic medium is encaustic paint without pigment. Used to extend colors and to create transparencies. It is made of the same 100% pharmaceutical grade beeswax and damar resin as the encaustic cakes.

These crystals are resin from a tree found in the East Indies. Damar Resin is used for hardening beeswax and raising its melting temperature when used in encaustic applications. Because the damar is in its raw state, as it comes from the tree, to make your own encaustic medium the damar must be melted with the beeswax and strained to remove impurities.

† Prepaid Satchel is available for some smaller items that will fit into an A4 envelope. Please do not select the satchel option if your goods are breakable, easily damaged or flammable.
